City of Lapeer 2019 Income Tax Extension
In accordance with the State of Michigan Executive Order 2020-26 the City of Lapeer will be extending their income tax filing deadline to July 31, 2020. Tax payments due April 30, 2020 will be deferred to July 31, 2020 without penalty and interest. However penalty and interest may still apply if estimate payments were not received as required.
This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporated tax filers such as partnerships and those that pay self-employment tax.
THIS DEFERMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO ANY WITHHOLDING TAXES.
This is an automatic extension, additional forms or phone calls to the Lapeer City Income Tax Department are not required for the extension to July 31, 2020.
If you require time beyond July 31, 2020 an extension form is required and will be extended to October 31, 2020. PAYMENT IS STILL DUE BY JULY 31, 2020. Extension forms are available on the City of Lapeer Income Tax Forms page.
Payments received after July 31, 2020 will be subject to late payment penalties and interest.

The Income Tax Office administers the Uniform Income Tax Ordinance which was adopted in 1967.
- City Residents: 1% (Individual and Corporate)
- Non-City Residents who work in the City: 1/2%
City Income Tax returns are due on April 30th of each year or the next business day if it falls on a weekend.
