ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Health and Environment

Public Health's goal is to protect, promote, and improve the health, environment, and quality of life to the residents of Elbert County.  The primary purpose of public health is to assure the conditions in which people can be healthy.  Most of the work of public health agencies is population based--that is, it focuses on improving the health of the entire community.  Public Health Services are available to the entire community and are partly funded by tax dollars. There is a fee with all services but no one is refused due to inability to pay. Elbert County Public Health is devoted to preventative services and education. We are unable to offer emergency or sick care.

Human Services

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children, maintaining and strengthening the family wherever possible, promoting self sufficiency and improving the quality of life within our community. We are committed to providing top-notch services, which promote independence, self-efficacy and family preservation.
