Economic Development

Located inside the Capital Beltway and just minutes from the Nation’s Capitol, the City of College Park is a college town with plentiful opportunities for businesses, developers, visitors, and residents. We are home to a world-class public university in the flagship campus of the University of Maryland, many historical and cultural attractions, and shopping destinations that include unique local and independent businesses.

Situated conveniently between Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis, the City of College Park is in a central location with multiple transportation options. We're within minutes of I-495, I-95, and Baltimore-Washington Parkway, accessible by rail to the centers of Baltimore and Washington. Additionally, the City will be home to several stations on the planned Purple Line light rail system expected to open in 2020. The Purple Line will connect the City with several major employment and entertainment centers in Maryland, including Bethesda, New Carrollton, and Silver Spring.

With the combination of a significant economic driver in the University, a highly-educated population, abundant transit options, and an urbanizing main street in Route 1, College Park is certainly a smart place to invest.
